Tensions are running high in Mataban district in Hiiraan region where Sufi militias were deployed in large numbers to protect the district from imminent invasion by the newly established administration Hirshabelle, KNN reports.
The Sufi militias who run some areas in central Somalia is seen to be the most obstacle against Galmudug and Hirshabelle federal members states.
The repel Moderate group which took up arms in 2008 to fight the hardliner al-shabaab group is now fighting against the Somali goverment and regional administrations of Galmudug and Hirshabelle.
The Sufi group accused the central goverment of marginalizing. Residents in Mataban said Tuesday that imminent fighting in the area led several people to flee their homes.
