Troops from Somaliland and neighbouring semi-autonomous Puntland clashed on Monday over their disputed Sool region that has been the source of conflict for many years, KNN reports on Monday.
According to Puntland officials, a new fighting erupted at Tukaraq area in the Sool Region early on Monday.
Puntland accused Somaliland of starting the invasion. No comments yet from Somaliland side.
So far, the number of casualties is yet to be known as tensions are still running high in the area, a mid Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi farmajo visits the region by holding meetings with Puntland State leaders in Garowe.
Both Somaliland and Puntland are in the north of Somalia and have enjoyed relative peace, while the south of the country has been mired in anarchy since the 1990.
