Roadside Bomb Kills 10 Civilians in central Somalia.
A roadside bomb killed 10 people among them 4 children and their mother while travelling by donkeys 7km west of the Bula-barde town of the Hiiraan province 185km north of the capital Mogadishu, sources said Monday.
“The incident happened when the minivan hit a roadside mine on Monday” said Bula-barde Mayor Abdi Dahir Gurre.
He says that a woman and her four children were among the ten killed. He said some passengers were travelling to visit medical centers in Bula-barde at the time of the accident.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
Such roadside bombs are usually planted by insurgent group al-Shabaab to target AU and Somali forces but the victims are mainly civilians. Al-shabaab vowed to target civilians entering to AU and Somali government run cities and villages in southern and central Somalia, a step meant a blockade on those areas.
