Siucide attack hits security checkpoint near Mogadishu.

A suicide car bomber targeting a security checkpoint near Mogadishu has killed eight people and wounded at least 10 others, including five security forces stationed at the checkpoint, KNN reports on Thursday.

The attack at Siinkadheer area along the raod between Mogadishu and Afgoye was claimed by the militant group, Shabaab on radio andalus.

The group said it has killed 15 Somali security members, a claims denied by local Somali Government security officials.

A security official says at least eight people were killed and at least ten wounded in that suicide bombing, among them were five security members and three civilians, he said.

The blast struck at Siinkadheer checkpoint on a busy street where security forces stop and search vehicles entering to the capital Mogadishu.

The number of bombings in and around Mogadishu have decreased significantly over the past few months since the country’s security forces stepped up operations for improving the security.
