Mogadishu-KNN- The President of Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed (Farmajo) has officially opened on Wednesday the 5th session of country parliament in Mogadishu.
President Mohamed has attended a colorful opening ceremony held at General Kahiye Police Academy in Mogadishu.
The Federal lawmakers have been on recess for the last two months when house finished its 4th session.
KNN journalists say most of the country’s lawmakers were present in the ceremonial event, with attendance of high-level officials and other dignitaries.
Somali President Mohamed delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, amid rising security challenges in the capital of Mogadishu.
Mohamed also spoke about the current situation in the country as well as rising attacks by al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
He says his government vowed to tackle security challenges as the militant group Al Shabaab carried out similar attacks left dozens dead for the last couple weeks in Mogadishu.
Mr. Mohamed urged Mogadishu residents to works with security agencies, in a bid to thwarts attacks by Al Shabaab.
Mohamed also addressed on security, economic cooperation and the fight against Al Shabaab.
Somalia has been in fighting against Al Shabaab for more than ten years, he said.
Mogadishu capital has been under locked down as hundreds of security forces intensified their presence to prevent attacks.
