Somalia: US condemns bomb blast killed soccer fans at Barawe district

Mogadishu-KNN-The US mission in Somalia condemned a bomb blast which killed at least five fans watching soccer game in port town of Barawe.

“US Somalia strongly condemns the deliberate and cowardly attack targeted on soccer fans in the Somali port town of Barawe on Thursday” US mission said on Twitter.

District officials told Radio Kulmiye that at least 10 spectators were injured, some of them seriously.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured” US added.

The US identified the incident as a horrific which Al-shabaab tires to make fear to youth.

“This horrific incident shows desperate attempts by the terror group Al Shabab to instill fear in the youth who are enjoying their lives. Sports is regarded as a viable tool to promote a healthy and peaceful society” also said.

The Somali terrorist group, Al-shabaab claims the responsibility of the bomb blast.
