Mortars fired at AMISOM’s main base in Mogadishu.

At least six people died after five mortars were fired at Mogadishu’s international airport on Sunday, others injured, a diplomatic source said.

The airport serves also as compound for several embassies as well as the United Nations and African Union missions.

A U.N. source in Mogadishu spoke to Reuters confirmed the attack but could not say how many people had been injured or died.

Residents living in the outskirts of the airport compound told Reuters they saw several mortars being fired.

Al-shabaab, the terrorist group in Somalia claimed the responsibility saying that they fired nine mortars and targeted to United Nations and African Union offices. The insurgent group said that they killed in the attack six people and injured five others.
