Police foil attempt by suspected terrorists to storm British army camp

Mogadishu-KNN-Police in Nanyuki, Laikipia County on Sunday evening arrested three suspected terrorists as they attempted to force their way into a highly secured British military camp.

The trio is currently being interrogated by detectives and Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) officers.

According to Rift Valley police Commander Marcus Ocholla the suspects were not armed but had sinister motives.

“We cannot give more details at the moment but the issue is being handled by anti-terror unit,” Ocholla said.

Ocholla said the presence of suspicious characters was reported to the police, who swiftly moved to the camp and arrested the three.

“The suspects have been subjected to thorough interrogation to establish what their plans were,” Ocholla said.

According to Ocholla, the suspects must have had a surveillance team, before trying to gain entry into the camp.

“We cannot rule out terrorism. Why would people try to gain entry to an international camp?” Posed the police boss.

A police report revealed that the three were arrested after they photos captured by the CCTV were circulated alerting the authorities.

“Their photos were captured by CCTV and circulated. Later in the day as the chief and security officers were following up leads they found them near Nanyuki Police Station where they arrested them and called the OCS who acted immediately and booked in vide OB 35/5/1/2019. Investigations are ongoing,” police said.
