Radio Kulmiye Journalist Released After 5 Days In Prison

Somali National Intelligence (NISA)have released a journalist working for Radio Kulmiye after holding him in jail without charge for five days.

Journalist Abdulaahi Kulmiye Adow was on Thursday released from a prison in Mogadishu where he had been detained since Saturday.

Addow was sent into behind bars after interviewing somali prominent businessman who openly expressed his support for Al Shabaab in fighting against African Union and US troops in Somalia.

In an interview with his own station, Addow said that heavily armed security officers raided on his residence in Mogadishu around 12:00 on that night leaving the family terrified.

I was not hurt in any way, except that my freedom was taken from me, he added.

Director of Radio Kulmiye Osman Abdulahi Gure has welcomed the release of Radio Kulmiye Journalist Abdulahi Kulmiye Adow from five days detention by Somali National Intelligence (NISA).

Gure Calls Somali authorities to protect the safety of journalists, respect press freedom and prevent the attacks against journalists.
