Somali forces seized a key village from Al-Shabaab: Official.

Somali security forces have captured a key village in southern Somalia from Al-Shabaab group, KNN reports, citing an official on Wednesday.

“The government troops captured Goof-Gaduud village late Tuesday in Bay region and is now in full control,” Hassan Wardhere Hussein told Radio Kulmiye in Mogadishu.

He said the capture followed an operation by the security forces, noting there was no resistance as Al-Shabaab militants vacated the area following reports of troops’ movement.

The move came amid a security meeting in the region chaired by local military commanders ahead of an expected offensive against Al-Shabaab militants.
