Somali army killed Al-shabaab militants after ambush attack in Hiran region, regional officials told the media.
At least 20 militants were killed and their van vehicle was burned by the military. The fighters of the insurgent group were traveling between Jalaqsi and Buloburte districts of Hiran region.
Mohamed Nor Agajof, Jalaqsi district commissioner told VOA Somali service that the army got information about that militants are traveling to harass the local people.
“All of them were killed, 20 and 18 slight arms, RBG and PKM were recovered, and their car was burned,” the district commissioner said.
Al-shabaab has strong persistence in Hiran region and there is no comment from the group.
