Somalia is under pressure after expulsion of UN envoy, FM

Mogadishu-KNN- Somalia’s foreign minister ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad told Anadolu news Agency that the country is under pressure in consequence of expulsion UN envoy to Somalia in January 1st. The minister said that the pressure is from western countries but not mention their names.

Any pressure from western countries will not affect the country because Somalia’s interest is the sovereignty and national dignity, the minister added.

The first day of this year Somalia issued Persona-non grata to the United Nations special envoy Nicholas Hysom after allegations of interfering domestic issues.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres tried to solve dispute between his envoy and federal government of Somalia, but president Mohammed Abdullahi Farmajo refused to reverse the decision and later Guterres accepted to appoint new envoy to Somalia.

Ambassador Awad said that there is no dispute between Somalia and Turkey in which resulted the decision Somalia expelled UN envoy, Anadolu reported.

Western countries including France and Britain condemned Somalia’s decision.
