Somalia and Kenya agree to normalize relations

Mogadishu-KNN-Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta met in New York with the mediation of Egyptian president Abdi Fitah Sisi, Villa Somalia said in a Statement.

The two Presidents attending United Nations General Assembly discussed restoring diplomatic relations of the countries and initiatives about the see border dispute.

According to Abdinor Mohamed Ahmed, Villa Somalia communication director, Farmajo and Uhuru agreed forming a new committee of both countries to restore diplomatic relations as normal.

The leaders also discussed the see border dispute among the countries in which raised diplomatic tensions. While Kenya has been trying to end dispute out of the ICJ court, Somalia maintained to wait for full hearing of the court and its final ruling. But now, the two countries agreed dispute should be determined by the court, Villa Somalia has said.

The Hague, International Court of Justice has already set November 8 for the date of case haring after Kenya requested more days to recruit new lawyers to defend the case against Somalia.
