Somalia: Opposition party files case against FG. at the Supreme Court

Mogadisu-KNN-An opposition party led by former Somali President Sheekh Sharif Sheekh Ahmed, Himilo Qaran (National Vision) filed legal case against executive branch of federal government of Somalia, officials told the media on Sunday.

Press conference held by the party in Mogadishu explained complaints in the case saying that federal government illegally barred former president and his delegation to depart to port city of Kismayo.

Senator Ilyas Ali Hassan told reporters that the party has decided to challenge the executive branch and filed case at the Supreme Court. “The party has decided to take legal action against government because of its illegal order to bar former president and MPs to broad to Kismayo.

Former President, Sheekh Shariif (2009-2012) has planned to travel to Kismayo to attend the inauguration ceremony of Jubaland regional President Ahmed Madobe and was restricted by the Somali Civil Aviation on 22 August.

The restriction resulted political turmoil and instability. Sharif blamed president Farmajo disrespect and that he took unprecedented step.
