Somalia: suicide bomber kills army officials

Mogadishu-KNN-At least five people were killed and five others injured in a car bomb attack in Galka’yo town, capital of Mudug region in central Somalia, KNN correspondent said.

Two of the dead ware army officials in the region, colonel Abdi hukun Abdullahi was the commander of integrated soldiers in the town and abdi Kani Ahmed was military officer.

Two of their security guards were also killed in the attack.

Regional officials said that attack was vehicle-improvised explosives driven by suicide bomber, who targeted army officials in the city.

Medical source told Radio Kulmiye that those wounded are including civilians and taken to main hospital in Galka’yo.

Galka’yo is city in the central Somalia which many years engulfed fighting between regional administrations of Galmudug and puntland.

Last year federal government of Somalia backed the two administrations to integrate local police to create peace zone in the city.

The terrorist group in Somalia, Al-shabab claims responsibility of the attack saying they have killed five army officials.

Al-shabab has strong persistence in Mudug region.
